SENSUALITY

It is not strange to find quite erotic and suggestive images in funerary sculpture.
Eros and Thanatos: A powerful and complex relationship...
This allegory of science, on the tomb of the astronomer and physicist Ottaviano Fabrizio Mossotti, is in the old Camposanto Monumentale di Pisa, Italy, and is one of the most sensual pieces of Italian sculpture from nineteenth century.
The sculptor was Giovanni Duprè (1817-1882)
