This dramatic scene is on the former tomb of Jean-Baptiste Alphonse Baudin. (His remains were later transferred to the Pantheon in Paris.) Baudin was shot dead and we can see the wound in the forehead of this realistic figure.
This sculpture is located in Montmartre cemetery.
The sculptor was Aimé Millet (1819-1891)
